This is the third eBook offering from Sanoen, a Spain based eBook publisher that are focusing on the format. Not to be confused with the book by the same name by Weird Al Yankovic
The eBook when I grow up is similar to the previous app, "To the Farm" where it focused on Farm animals, when I grow up focuses on Professions. This is not a career guide, but an educational app. This has 15 professions in 6 languages aimed at providing learning for various age groups from 0-3, 1-4, 3-4 and 4+. This app is not so much geared towards interactivity as it is focused on Spelling and words.
The lovely art from Vanessa Linares continues to engage children with this app.
From a technical point of view, the app is rich with a lot of sounds and voices, where all of the letters and words in 6 languages are included. This makes it a bit heavy but it still sits well under 70 MB. The App is more like a slide show than interactive as the first app (Sarah the little fairy) was. It would have definitely helped to have more interactivity/animation with each profession. The app is currently iOS (iPAD) only.
If you have children around the house and want to teach them spelling or learn/teach a foreign language, then this is a good platform for that. It serves as an interactive flash card.
On a personal note, I would avoid the word entrepreneur and replace it with a businessman instead. After all if the age groups we are dealing with are 1-4 then such big words are best avoided. The sentences in the last activity could have been avoided.
